The tree fell on the boy about 11am on Friday at a property near Coolabunya just outside of the town of Kingaroy, Queensland Ambulance said. Two 4WDs were needed to lift the tree off the boy, with a rescue helicopter on scene just after midday preparing to fly him to hospital. Queensland ambulance said the boy suffered “multiple serious injuries from head to toe” which left him in a critical condition. It was expected the primary-school-aged boy would be taken to the Queensland Children’s Hospital.
The area was hit hard by the extreme storms which swept through the region on Thursday, however it’s not confirmed what caused the tree to fall on the boy. Although Queensland, unique amongst Australian states, has a series of major regional centres along its coast Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns only Gladstone feels like a genuinely industrial city. More than million tonnes of cargo with over thirty products pass through the port each year. In the last three decades this quiet port has become a maritime centre with some of the most sophisticated loading facilities in the country. In this sense it is worth visiting but, most of all, it has its own visitor attractions – impressive lookouts, nearby beaches, a beautiful Botanic Gardens and easy access to the southern reaches of the Great Barrier Reef.
Location Gladstone is located km north of Brisbane via Highway 1 and km south east of Rockhampton. It was named in when he was the British Colonial Secretary. He later became Prime Minister of Great Britain – four times. Consequently the Gladstone City Heritage Walk is a pleasant 2 km walk which will take about 35 minutes. It can be downloaded at http: Making your way back to the city centre you will understand why the city does not have a lot of historic buildings.
